💻 MOS 2.0 — Poland 2026

How to Apply for a Residence Permit via MOS Portal in Poland

A complete step-by-step guide to the MOS 2.0 portal — from creating an account to your biometric appointment at the Urząd Wojewódzki.

In short: MOS (Moduł Obsługi Spraw) is Poland's official online portal for submitting residence permit applications. From 27 April 2026, it is the primary — and mandatory — gateway for most TRC applications. Filling out the form online does not replace an in-person biometric appointment at the Urząd Wojewódzki.

What is the MOS Portal (Moduł Obsługi Spraw)?

The MOS portal is an official web platform managed by the Office for Foreigners (Urząd do Spraw Cudzoziemców). Its main goal is to simplify the process of filling out residency applications (wniosek). By 2026, the portal has evolved into a highly intuitive system that helps foreigners minimise errors by providing contextual hints and checking for missing information in real-time.

Official website: mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl — available in 7 languages: Polish, English, Ukrainian, Russian, French, Arabic and Vietnamese.

Creating an Account and Logging In

Before you start your application, you need a personal account to save your progress and access your forms later.

1
Visit the official website

Go to mos.cudzoziemcy.gov.pl and click the Register button in the top right corner.

2
Create your account

Enter your email address and create a strong password. Confirm your registration via the link sent to your email.

3
Log in and start your application

Log in using your new credentials. You will see tiles representing different procedures — select the one matching your situation.

MOS 2.0: Step-by-Step Application Guide

The latest version of the system features an improved interface and better integration with regional offices. Here is the exact process to follow:

1
Choose the Right Application Form (Wniosek)

Once logged in, select Pobyt czasowy (Temporary Residence) if you are applying based on work, study, or family. Click Wypełnij wniosek (Fill in the application). The system will ask qualifying questions to ensure you are filling in the correct form.

2
Fill Out the Form Online

The system guides you through sections: personal data, passport details, and purpose of stay. If you leave a mandatory field empty, the system highlights it in red. You can switch the interface to English — but data such as your job title or address should be entered in Polish where required. Click Dalej (Next) to move through the sections.

3
Generate and Download the PDF

Once you reach the end and the system validates your data, click Generuj dokument (Generate document). The portal creates a PDF containing all your information. Download it and keep a digital copy — you will need it at the Urząd and for any future amendments.

Do I Still Need to Visit the Urząd Wojewódzki?

⚠️ Critical point many expats misunderstand: submitting your application through MOS 2.0 does not mean your case is immediately assigned to an inspector. An in-person visit to the Urząd Wojewódzki is still required.

To continue the procedure after online submission:

  • You must attend a scheduled appointment at the Urząd Wojewódzki
  • You must provide your fingerprints (biometric data)
  • The office must verify your identity and application details

Only after biometric data has been collected and the application formally accepted can the case be assigned to an inspector for review.

In summary: MOS 2.0 digitises the submission process, but applicants must still visit the Urząd Wojewódzki to provide biometric data. Until this stage is completed, your case cannot proceed to substantive review.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

❓ Can I check my application status on the MOS portal?

Generally, no. The MOS portal is primarily for creating and submitting applications. To track your TRC status, you need to use the specific portal of your local Voivodeship Office — such as InPOL in Warsaw or the dedicated tracker in Poznań.

❓ What languages are available on the platform?

The MOS portal supports 7 languages: Polish, English, Ukrainian, Russian, French, Arabic and Vietnamese. You can switch the language at any time using the flag icon in the menu.

❓ What happens after I submit through MOS 2.0?

You will receive a PDF confirmation of submission. This document confirms your case has been registered and serves as proof of legal stay — the same function as the yellow card for cases submitted before MOS 2.0. You must then attend your biometric appointment to formally start the review process.

Migrantexpert Tip: always keep a digital copy of the PDF generated by MOS. It will be very useful if you ever need to apply for a change of employer or an extension in the future!
